SQL Server services

Microsoft SQL Server has evolved from a relational database engine into a feature-rich complex product. Many of these features are focused on ease-of-use, and enable small and medium enterprises to rapidly build database driven applications.

Often these applications are developed when the business is relatively small and growing fast. Additionally, many small and medium enterprises cannot afford or utilise a database administrator full-time. This means that SQL Server is often installed and configured sub-optimally.

These shortcomings are exposed when the application performance drops for no apparent reason. We offer a number of ways to help you address these problems.

Full SQL Server Performance Review

At the end of a full performance review you will receive a report with detailed steps you can take to improve the performance of your SQL Server.

The report includes:

  • a hardware review,
  • an operating system review,
  • a SQL Server configuration review,
  • a Performance Monitor capture,
  • a server-side SQL Trace capture,
  • a review of these trace files, and
  • a list of recommendations.

This the default review made for new clients, or the first time a server is reviewed.

Standard SQL Server Performance Review

At the end of a standard performance review you will receive a report with the most resource intensive queries and steps you can take to improve the performance of you SQL Server databases.

This report includes:

  • a Performance Monitor capture,
  • a server-side SQL Trace capture,
  • a review of these trace files, and
  • a list of recommendations.

The standard performance review is recommended for clients who are confident that the server in question has suitable hardware and that the software has been installed and configured appropriately.
